Hey everybody, come on out to our Oktoberfest Open House today!
We’ll be working on projects all afternoon, and this event is open to the public, so if you have a project you’ve been working on, bring it along!
The open house starts at 2:30, and will last until we decide to head over to the local pub. We may even have some members bringing by homebrewed beer for the occasion.
This Sunday, starting at 2pm, our own Andrew Morrison will be teaching a class on the Physics of Music. A short description:
In this class we will explore some of the basic physics which governs the behavior of musical instruments. After exploring the science of resonance, pitch and timbre we will build some simple musical instruments out of common materials. By the end of the class you should come away with your own musical instrument and the ability to invent new musical instruments of your own design.
Tickets will be $10.00 for non-members and supporting members, and free for regular members. Material costs are TBD, but should be under $20.00. All payments will be accepted at the door.
Please let me know if you’re interested, and I’ll keep you updated!
Tonight we decided that to better represent Tuesday’s weekly activities, we’re re-naming it to “Build-out Tuesdays.” Mini-hackathons should be taking place 24/7 at the space, and we really want everyone to be encouraged to bring their projects and work on them every day.
Tuesdays will be a regular time for people to come to the space and get work done on the facilities.
We’re shifting the general meeting by a week, since the next one would fall on Labor Day, and we don’t want to interfere with the long weekend.
The next meeting will be on September 13th, at 6:30pm.
The main topic of discussion will be classes to be held at the space.
We’ve got a preliminary list of classes we’re planning on offering, but we’d love other suggestions, so come on out on the 13th and give us your input!
